THE WAR BETWEEN NOVELIZATION
FROM THE NEW FILM THAT RECENTLY PREMIERED AT THE PHOENIX FILM FESTIVAL
It is April, 1862. The place is not far from Tucson Arizona, near a natural landmark called Picacho Peak. Two soldiers have just fought in a skirmish at the base of the peak and are now stranded in the desert, in what was the western-most theatre of the Civil War. One soldier, Corporal Israel Terry, has been wounded and lies hidden from his men, and wakes up suffering amnesia, not knowing who he is or how he got there.
The other soldier, Private Moses Jennings, is a young confederate from Texas who was taken prisoner by the Federal troops but paroled and released to the custody of the desert. He must trek across the expanse of the Sonoran Desert alone to reach his home in Texas.
The two soldiers meet, and as Terry gradually regains his identity, they must learn to cooperate in order to survive the dangers of the desert, Apaches, and their own histories and beliefs. The War Between is a western, an historical drama, a story of survival, but most importantly, a timeless parable about what makes us Americans and the continuing struggle to stay united as one people. Based on the screenplay of the movie of the same name.
